Hello, my name is Becky. I live in rural southeast Kansas with my husband and two children. We breed blue, black, and tortoise Dutch rabbits. We also breed opal and black Mini Rex.
We started in the rabbit business about 5 years ago. My children, Cadence and Aiden, decided to show rabbits for their 4H projects. The first step was to choose which breed of rabbit they were the most interested in. With up to 48 breeds to choose from we needed to minimize our options. My mom raises Dutch in California and I've always thought that they are a very gentle and beautifully marked rabbit so I convinced my son to show them. My daughter decided to show Mini Rex which is fitting because they are both hard headed but also very sweet.
The second step was to find a breeder of these types of rabbits. This proved to be a little more difficult than anticipated. We found that we had to travel quite a distance from our small southeast Kansas home to find good quality show rabbits. This made us realize that if we were having such a hard time locating good rabbits that the other 4H'ers were most likely encountering the same dilemma.
Our goal is to raise quality show rabbits that meet ARBA (American Rabbit Breeders Association) standards. We hope that in doing so we may provide the local 4H children with a more convenient buying option and bring more of an interest to the rabbit project.
We are members of ARBA (American Rabbit Breeders Association), NMRRC (The National Mini Rex Club), and ADRC (The American Dutch Rabbit Club).
